We love this (new) neighborhood spot of ours, located right next to Gibson Street bar on South Lamar. Odd Duck is known for their use of seasonal Texas ingredients and their variety of small plates. We love walking down the street and grabbing a bite for dinner, and obviously a drink or two (their house Paloma + sea salt foam). Our favorites on the menu this season are the smoked fish and pimento cheese fritters, the ceviche (sweet potato curry, pickled beets, grilled olives, peaches), and the roasted beets with coffee crumble, smoked pecans, and goat cheese. You can honestly never go wrong with anything on this amazing menu, but we highly suggest asking your waiter for there faves here - they never steer you in the wrong direction! Make sure to stop in for dinner at Odd Duck this summer. You won't want to miss these incredible menu items - get 'em before they're gone!
Where do we even start? This Dallas transplant made its' way into our hearts last month on Rock Rose at the Domain. We've gotta say, this taco joint has thought of it all. Velvet Taco has successfully taken all of our favorite foods, stuffed them in a tortilla (or something similar), and completely changed the game. We recommend grabbing a marg, ordering the shrimp and grits + chicken tikka masala + falafel taco, and ending your meal on a sweet note with a slice of their red velvet cake. I never thought one of my favorite spots for tacos would have the best cake, but it 100% does. Do yourself a favor and make your way to the Domain tonight for Taco Tuesday.
Ever since we moved South, we've really be in the mood to get healthy and there is no better spot than Juice Society. This local juice shop is located smack dab in the center of the Lamar Union and offers an array of smoothies, juices, smoothie bowls, and loaded toasts. Seriously, JC is the spot of our dreams. Their smoothies are amazing and incredibly refreshing, especially with all of this hot weather coming for us. The pineapple and strawberry smoothie are so delicious, and if you're in the mood for something savory, we love the avocado + arugula toast. Stock up on JC's pre-made juices (spring 1 + the foundation + activated lemonade) for a healthy and happy summer.
Clark's Oyster Bar
McGuire Moorman FTW, always. Clark's Oyster bar is Austin's little slice of seafood heaven. Located off 6th street is this gem, full of incredible cocktails and some of the best oysters we've had in Austin. The bright, nautical design of this restaurant makes us feel like we're on the East Coast eatin' at a seaside beach. Do it like #ammeetspm would and order the cocktail of the day. We always do and we're always more than happy. We recommend grabbin' a few oysters to start, along with a dressed oyster and the ceviche. You can never go wrong with the mussels, crab cake, or the linguini and clams but you MUST order the shells and cheese with lump crab. Seriously, top five mac + cheese dishes in the city. This great date night or girls night spot is one of our faves, and an absolute summer staple here in #atx.
