Mackenzie here, also known as the resident #ammeetspm interior designer. But really guys, how is it already February?? Since we're two months into 2017, I'm rounding up the home trends I see taking off over the course of this year and that I will actually implement into my Client's designs. I'm actually not a huge fan of being "on trend" in interior spaces. For one, it's expensive to indulge in furniture and accessories that aren't classic pieces and therefore will go out of style. And your home should be a reflection of your personality, which (normally) doesn't change every season. For me, I tend to lean towards spaces that have potential to grow and evolve over time. So these "trends" I'm talking about we've seen before and we will see them again. But they will really shine this year. 2017 is killing it in the design world right now.
Warm-Colored Materials | Think copper, cognac leather & terracotta tiles.
Dark Green | To replace last years on-trend charcoal blue and deep navy. Annnnnd will have you green with envy.
Upholstered Bed | Although the upholstered headboard is already a go-to look for your bedroom, we're not opting for an entirely softer look in general. By swapping out a wood or metal bed for an entirely upholstered one instead, you can really transform your bedroom into a little getaway.
Cosmic Colors | We're talkin' jewel tones, metallics, opals, lucite and anything & everything geode. Even just a touch of this look will add a ton of sparkle and interest to any space. AND this home is in Austin & designed by Elizabeth Mollen, a fellow Homepolish designer.
Dark Walls | Bright white will never be out in my book, but opt for a darker look which is not only moody and oh so sexy, but your everything else in your space will stand out so much more.
