Lucy's Fried Chicken

What do two southern girls love more than fried chicken? Nothing! Lucy's, located on Burnet, the Lake, and South Congress, offers spicy buckets o' chicken, an array of sides (three sides of fried okra, please), and thirst quenching watermelon margaritas! We love the baked mac n' cheese, crispy fried chicken, the warm cornbread muffins with tequila butter AND the wedge (we love a good wedge salad). The happy hour specials vary by day and include specials for every wine, beer, cocktail and liquor lovers (liquor? barely even know 'er), but Mondays are our favorite - $4 house margs and $1 Lonestar (#winning).

Head over to Lucy's everyday of the week for happy hour, and weekends for their sassy southern style brunch.

Uchiko word, so many feelings. Y'all, we love sushi as much as the next girl, but Uchiko takes the cake. Top Chef alum, Tyson Cole, pairs local, seasonal ingredients with the freshest seafood from around the world to create decadent, delicious, and one-of-a-kind dishes that keep us wanting more. From the warm towel upon arrival to the tasting instructions given by your server, Uchiko and Uchi strive to give you the best dining experience, and they win by a long shot! We always order a fabulous glass of wine (priorities, right?), the brussels sprouts (roasted + sweet chili sauce), yokai berry (salmon + kale + asian pair + yuzu), and hama chili (yellowtail + ponzu + thai chili + oranges). We also love the bacon crispy rice (we'll order anything with bacon), finger lickin' good pork ribs, and the wagyu beef hot rock (love a good diy).

We highly suggest attending Uchiko and Uchi's sake socials, offered daily from 5-6:30 pm. These daily menus offer great tasting specials and delicious rolls, plus sake, wine, and Sapporo at bargain prices.

One glass, two glass, three glass, more! Cru, the cozy wine bar on 2nd Street and up north at the Domain, offers an array wine, small plates, and awesome weekday specials. We absolutely love their wine flights (Sauvignon Blanc, please!), the pear and gorgonzola pizza (gorgonzola...our fave), and the savory steamed mussels. If you like goat cheese, the beignets drizzled in sweet honey are absolutely amazing. We know, we have thing for cheese.

Head over to Cru for happy hour every Monday-Friday, 4-6:30pm, for $3-$5 small plate specials. Pizza Monday = free pizza with bottle of wine & Champagne Thursdays = 1/2 off champagne

Pacific Rim Sushi

Okay, we obviously ate our weight in sushi this month, but we just can't help it! Pacific Rim, Maiko's sister restaurant (our go-to sushi spot), is located up north at Burnet and 183. Pacific Rim has a more sports bar-y feel but continues to maintain the small, sushi restaurant vibe. We like to go on Tuesday's when they offer $1 specials, including nagiri, yakitori, and appetizers, plus $3 glasses of house wine (house wine ftw, again). Another reason we absolutely love Maiko and Pacific Rim... the KANI SALAD (avocado + spicy mayo + kani = our favorite salad, ever)! We highly suggest ordering a lychee martini and the bloody sake mary, both at an inexpensive $5, or any draft beer for $3.75.

Make sure you visit Pacific Rim, ASAP (everything is under $10!!).  They offer happy hour Monday to Friday from 3:00pm to close, and Saturday and Sunday 5:00pm to close.
