Vino Vino

Mas vino! Any restaurant with vino in the name gets our attention, any restaurant with vino vino in the name steals our hearts! Vino Vino, Hyde Park's favorite neighborhood wine bar offers an amazing atmosphere, a selection of wine for days, and is one of our fave go-to happy hours. The mussels and frites are to-die-for (mussels + fries + aoili = our dream), and the crab fritters topped with a delectably sweet pepper jelly melt in your mouth. Vino x 2 also offers a paella dinner every Sunday at 7pm, that is next on our to-do list (if you haven't noticed, seafood and rice in any form is our favorite).

Enjoy $2 off wine, cocktails, and beer + selected half-price appetizers Monday - Friday 3-7pm, Saturday 5:30-7 pm

Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co.

Three cheers for more beer! Well, at ABGB you can get just that! Located off Oltorf & South Lamar this is our favorite weekday haunt for good pizza+beer (is there a better combo?) plus live music! Come here hungry, we love the cheese board - if you're feeling classy, the arugula salad & the margherita pizza. As far as the beer goes, it's so hard to choose just one, so why not get them all? Order the beer flight and you'll get five pours of the current ABGB favorites. The "Hell Yes" is always flying on there though, how could you go wrong with a beer named that!

We like to go on Wednesday's because the band is so fun, but check out their Happy Hour on Tuesday - Friday 3-7pm for $1 off pints.

St. Genevieve

We ventured all way out to Rock Rose in the Domain to check out our our fave Houston transplant, St. Genevieve. With crystal chandeliers, marble counters & plush velvet all taking the spotlight in this swanky bar, it's easy to feel like you're way fancier than you are. We ordered some of our faves (not HH, but we couldn't resist), a dirty martini and the Pear & Berry cocktail. They make a strong drink here, so be sure to get something to nosh on too. We like the hand-cut fries with rosemary + cheddar dipping sauce - your mouth is watering too, right? And the pear & prosciutto flatbread is a little slice of salty sweet heaven!

It's worth the drive so stop by for Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 3-7pm for $5 Prosecco, White and Select Red Wines.

Midnight Cowboy

So, speakeasies are kind of our thing...we love roaring through our (the) 20's! You don't find many spots like Midnight Cowboy here in Austin, but we're so happy we did! Amidst the dirty sixth street chaos lies this hidden gem, located in between 311 and Blind Pig, and marked by the red light above the door (buzz for Harry Craddock, you'll thank us later). This intimate, reservation-only bar brings you back to the Prohibition Era with its' retro tunes, bar cart service, and old school cocktails. We were lucky enough to enjoy the Mesmer (rosé all day, every day), the Lion's Tail (rum-a-yum tiki cocktail), and a fruity punch in the privacy of our own room. Midnight Cowboy definitely takes us back in time, and we're not mad about it AT ALL.

Feel like a flapper every Tuesday - Sunday, 6 pm to close.

Check back next month for some more of our favorite spots to get sips & snacks on the cheap!
